It is true that Material Science and Engineering is the
toughest subject in AMIE Section A.
Everyone thinks How to pass Material
Science in AMIE? Because it is tough so you need to give extra focus on this subject.
And it will help you lot if you get some guidance. I can help you some what I
know which I earn from my experience. The main tips to pass material science in
Amie are, you have to study hard but in style. Now what is the style I mansion
here? Style means you have to make a plan to select easy and number carrying
module. Do your homework first like before start preparation
- Make separate note book for Material science.
- Paste syllabus on first page.
Now you see which module is easy. Here I give those modules
according to me which I feel easy and understandable easily. First I go with
Group A
Introduction to materials: It contains Metal and alloys, ceramics, polymers
and semi conducting materials-introduction and application as engineering
materials. All those are easy go through that and just read it from here you
may get some sort question. You can score minimum 4-8 marks from here.
Defects in solids: It
contains Point, line and surface defects and diffusion in solids. You must read
it from here you may get minimum 10-15 marks.
Mechanical properties: It
contains Tensile strength, yield strength, elastic and viscoelastic properties,
creep, stress relaxation and impact, Fracture behavior, Ductile fracture,
Griffith theory, effect of heat treatment and temperature on properties of
metals. It is a good chapter all has knowledge on this module and read early in
H.S. or if you complete diploma then most of all were completed. If you have
good luck then you get set question of 20 marks from here.
Deformation of metals: It contains Elastic and plastic deformation, slip, twin, dislocation theory,
critical resolved shear stress, deformation in polycrystalline materials;
season cracking, Bachinger's effect, strengthening mechanics; work hardening
recovery, crystallization and grain growth, cold and hot working. All are easy
and interesting and you may get 10-15 marks from here.
You May avoid Phase diagrams Module which contains Mono-component
and binary systems, non-equilibrium system, phase diagram and. application in
crystalline and non-crystalline solids. Because this module is very hard to
remember. If you have mechanical background then you will go for that.
If you
prepare this style you may attain two questions from Group A easily.
From Group B you have to select more.
Like when I was seated I completely left those modules.
Heat treatment which contains Iron-carbon system,
Annealing, normalizing, hardening, critical cooling rate, hardenability, age
hardening, surface hardening, tempering.
Thermal properties which contains High temperature
materials, materials for cryogenic application, thermally insulating materials.
Better you
should go for that those are very easy.
Ceramic materials: Which contains and polymers. Silicon
structures, polymerism , glass, electrical properties of ceramic phases, rocks,
building stones, refractories. You may get set question of 20 marks from here.
Polymerization mechanism: It
contains structural properties of polymer, thermoplastics, thermosets,
elastomer, resins, composites, particles and fibber reinforced composite,
Composite material including Nano material. From here you may get 10-15 marks
Electronic properties: It contains Magnetism, diamagnetism, Para
magnetism, ferromagnetism, magnetic energy, zone theory of solids, zones in
conductors and insulators. From here you may get 5-10 marks.
So you may
attain Full 100 marks but in style. But if possible best practice is read all.
If you feel it is helpful please reply Then I will give more tips.
Sir,
ReplyDeleteIt is really helpful. Sir kindly tell me the referance book for this subject.
Defect in solid
DeleteDefect in solid
Deletewow..that is excellent breaking down subjects into different groups according to marks assigned and it can be studied accordingly. Thus we can concentrate on the important topics and utilize it.
Deleteat first star with jain brother book and ieindia study material
ReplyDeletesir, thanks for your guidence.
ReplyDeleteIt is my plesur dikshant you are welcome

DeleteThanks a lot sir
ReplyDeletehow to study 303 computer and infomatics
ReplyDeleteIf you have computer science/ Comp. Engg back ground
DeleteThen there is no need to explicitly tell u anything.
Else
If you are willing to take up programming part seriously, better join to an institute (need not be a reputed one, just choose a small institute near by your residence) and take up C and C++ programming course. Try to do lots of hands on sessions. Try as many programs as possible. Using Turbo C and Turbo C++ is ok for this. Before that try to buy C and C++ books. There are tons of books available in the market. If you have opportunity to visit to a book shop, better choose a right book by comparing the style of presentation and the style you expect to learn from.
If you don't feel that u are ok with programming, then focus on theory part (even in C and C++ theory questions could be expected). Better focus on Digital (easy), Computer Networks(basics), Operating Systems basics, Computer Architecture and Organization (basics), by keeping an eye on previous year question papers. If you are lucky, there could be a balanced way of questions asked (between theory and programs), and you can pass. Try to do some simple programs, as its always keep you in safer side to clear this paper.
Hi,
ReplyDeleteCould u pls suggest which books are fine to pass AMIE exams @ first attempt.
Thanks

ReplyDeleteYes you can.total time limit 12 years.(section A +section B)
DeleteHello sir.
ReplyDeleteI m working and housewife too with small baby(1.5 year).
I attempted material science approximate 4-5 times but I didn't passed it. Rest three exam already clear. And I have only 2 hr for my study. Can you please guide me, how can I passed this subject so I can appear in section B.
Please help.
Thanks in advance.
Ruchi ji ,you can follow above instruction/sujjesion that can be helpful for you..avoid some chapter which are difficult to remember .only follow that chapter which are easy to remember..I hope you will pass now.
